Dear Editor,
The East Boston Clean Streets Initiative would
like to thank the Embassy Suites Hotel for supporting their neighbors
on Cottage Street during a recent cleanup. We would also like to
congratulate the Jeffries Point Crew and the folks at Shay’s Beach for
their efforts in cleaning up the neighborhood. We encourage everyone
in East Boston to take time to meet their neighbors and work for a
cleaner neighborhood.
The initiative is a collaborative of volunteers
from The Jeffries Point Neighborhood Association, East Boston Main
Streets and the East Boston Chamber of Commerce. The committee is
trying to build awareness in many ways including an elementary school
anti- litter contest. Winners will be announced in June. Business
owners are being contacted and asked to do their part by maintaining a
clean storefront. The initiative is also looking to utilize City
resources for new trash receptacles, tree pit liners and compliance
with trash offenders.
Our goal is to change behaviors and attitudes
about cleanliness in East Boston. The only way for success is to get
everyone involved. We welcome new ideas and encourage people to join
our effort. For more information contact East Boston Main Streets at
617.561.1044 or

Respectfully,
Clark J. Moulaison
