Boston Public School Superintendent Carol Johnson At The 8th
Annual Countdown To Kindergarten Parade
On Friday September 05, 2008, East Boston Main Streets held its
8th Annual Countdown to Kindergarten Parade.
East Boston, MA, 8-Sep-2008
— East Boston Main Streets along with the Boston
Public Schools Countdown to Kindergarten staff, the East Boston Social
Center, YMCA, Little Folks, Head Start programs, Boston Police and
MBTA hosted the 8th Annual Countdown to Kindergarten parade. With the
help of many groups and individuals and the generosity of local
merchants, every child in East Boston who is entering Kindergarten
received a back pack, school supplies and enjoyed a festive day
designed to provide a positive experience as they begin their
education.
Special guest Superintendent Carol Johnson helped
volunteers to make this a very special day. The children presented a
special gift to retiring judge Paul Mahoney who has supported this
event for many years.
Special thanks to parade marshals Sangeles Sosa,
Kelly Benitez, Michelle DeRuosi and Paula Toronto.DJ John Dudley and
many volunteers made this years parade another successful beginning
for the children of East Boston.
Back packs were purchased with donations from East
Boston Kiwanis Club, East Boston Savings Bank and Representative Carlo
Basile.
