Healthy Main Streets Walk Highlights Eating Fresh and Shopping Local!
On Thursday July 29, 2010 East Boston Main Streets sponsored a healthy fitness walk.

East Boston, MA, 30-Jul-2010 — On July 29, 2010, East Boston Main Streets, the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center and the East Boston YMCA joined to sponsor a healthy fitness walk. Over 70 people participated. Youngsters and more experienced walkers were treated to fresh fruit from La Esquina Super Market at 184 Bremen Street, slices of watermelon from Sorrentino's at 199 Sumner Street and delicious samples of vegetable burgers from Dough East Boston at 20 Maverick Street. The participants began the walk with some stretching exercises from Daniela Galdo who is a fitness instructor with The YMCA. One participant received a free one-year membership to the East Boston YMCA. After visiting local businesses the group finished up with a visit to the farmers market in Central Square. The farmers market is held on Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm from July to October and is sponsored by the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center.
